Monday's Movie Madness - 3D for the experience.

Welcome to a new feature - each Monday we will post a new trailer for an up coming filmic event that has us motivated to get back to the movie theatre rather than just slumming it at home on the couch with the DVD version.

This Monday, a personal can't wait to see event - Tron Legacy in 3D. Released globally 17th december 2010. Not that long to wait.

Just check out the first trailer. WOW

This is the first of 3 official trailers. Watch all of them after the jump and see the original too!

So what is all of the fuss?
I guess you need to be of an age to appreciate the emotion of seeing the original Tron movie in the early 1980's. At the time it was mind blowing. The concept was astounding, the graphics were out of this world, and computers were just making an impact over the way we lived, well in the future at least. For most of us in provincial NZ the closest we had to personal computers was the Defender game at the local dairy.

For those that need a refresher, here is the original trailer for the 1982 classic that changed the future for many a geek.

So there is of course a plot update. It is not a remake or a retelling, rather a continuation. Thank heavens for that. I really don't get the remake thing. Sure technology has moved forward and a remake allows for the retelling of technology depeandant stories all the better, but it will never capture the emotion of that first experience 20 years ago.

The new plot revolves around Sam Flynn (Garrett Hedlund), a rebellious 27-year-old, who is haunted by the mysterious disappearance of his father Kevin Flynn (Oscar®- and Golden Globe®-winner Jeff Bridges), a man once known as the world's leading video-game developer. When Sam investigates a strange signal sent from the old Flynn's Arcade - a signal that could only come from his father - he finds himself pulled into a digital world where Kevin has been trapped for 20 years. With the help of the fearless warrior Quorra (Olivia Wilde), father and son embark on a life-or-death journey across a visually-stunning cyber universe - a universe created by Kevin himself that has become far more advanced with never-before-imagined vehicles, weapons, landscapes and a ruthless villain who will stop at nothing to prevent their escape.
Cool. CANT WAIT.

Here is the second trailer in the series for the new version:

and finally the 3rd and probably last trailer for the Legacy Edition:
