Searching within the site SEARCH W ondering if we cover what you are looking for? Use our simple search option in the main menu bar. Just type in whatever you are looking to learn more about and you will be directed to The Big Picture search engine where the results will be ready for you to click away. For a more advanced search, click on the mini magnifying glass on the right of the search tab which will take you to the search section of the site, where you can refine your search even further. Type in your search words, parameters or phrases and presto, the links to pages and articles within the site will be displayed. This is a great tool, and will speed up your access to information incredibly. What is up with the links within articles? We have chosen to generally not activate links to other sites within our articles. This is done very deliberately. Some of how Google works is by looking at links to external sites and checking with those sites to see if they link back to us. If there are reciprocal links it validates the content and improves our search rank. If the link is not reciprocal it dilutes our search rank - something we definately do not want to be doing! This cross site linking makes for easier use by the viewer as you can quickly reference other websites and their content. However what this also does is take you, the lovely viewer, away from our site and onto another one. This kind of organic movement through the web was once called "surfing the web" back in the day, as what you were doing was riding a wave of information from one site to the next. Where you started and where you ended during your surf were more than likely to be two very different places. So what we do instead is provide the link all ready for your to copy and paste into your browser. It is still there for validation of the article or for further reading, but it may take a couple of extra steps to get there. We think that this sneaky trick will keep more people at our site longer.
