| Arrest in Brutal Bashing Case |

This is a relief in that at least there will be some measure of accountability for those involved in the act of bashing. This doesn't change the fact that we, as a society have become desensitised to violence and shuttered into our own little lives to the point that we don't even go to the aid of someone getting the snot beaten out of them anymore. Rather we think that perhaps someone else will take care of it, heaven forbid we need to get involved and expose ourselves to risk. In this instance no one took care of it and as a result Brent lay there for the entire night, 7 odd hours which must have been terrifying for him. What I find the most disturbing within all of this is that these kids that are continually being brought up in front of the courts for these kinds of offences, seem to be less affected by their actions, like what they have done is not a big thing. The Nelson Mail has just tweeted that the Police have arrested a 17 year old BOY and charged him with intent to cause grievous bodily harm over the beating of Brent last weekend, where he was brutally bashed and left for dead.
