We always seem to be running out of storage space in our house. The kids seem to grow clothes. It is weird. Every time I turn around there is another new storage box full of clothes to deal with.
This email came my way and it was too awesome not to share. Some of these interior design concepts on the clever multi-use of stairs are very inspiring. In some ways I wish we had stairs so I could replace them with one of these very clever designs. Maybe in the next house...... Hit the read more link to see the full set, and get to thinking how you can make clever use of space the next time you build or renovate. The Sculptured Living Stairs

We love this one, not so much for it's capacity to be a storage facility but for it's sheer impact. What a brilliant design. It adds a really ornate, organic feel into an otherwise stark interior. Beautifully balanced porportions and colour contrast. Love it. The Library Stairs
This design is definately going to make it into the next house. What a clever use of space, and it also means that one can get to the books higher up with ease. It even produces a nice resting spot for quick book scanning whilst up there. I love this concept so much I am reworking the house designs I have in my head for the next place we live......
And the view from the top of the stairs. It appears very steep. This design maybe better being less steep by extending the side shelves to accomodate more books. What a great incentive to get more books. The Founders Book Sale will be on soon, can't wait. One of my favourite outings of the year. The Lego Stairs
This design is just weird, but it certainly would brighten your day skipping up these stairs in the morning!
Is it just me or does this look like it is made of lego? The Massive Tree in your Lounge Stairs Another favourite.
If you had the right kind of home or office how perfect would this look be? Load bearing perhaps?
The not quite there stairs
This kind of staircase would be a very interesting talking point in a room. And very easy to clean around. The Hidden Treasures under your stairs
And finally the best of the bunch. Look at all of those potential drawers. Imagine what you could put in there. As everything we now buy tends towards planned obselescence in manufacture, for those of us that prefer to look for the older models that were actually built to last, storage inevitably becomes a real issue. This kind of idea is brilliant, out of sight, out of mind so to speak...... |
