| Mining away our stability |
| Has anyone else wondered what becomes of the structural integrity of the earth when folks go extracting stuff from the ground? All of this talk about the mining of some of New Zealand's conservation lands has got me thinking. I am sure deep core, underground mining is a science but cant help but wonder whether extracting rock, crystaline structures and conductive minerals like gold, copper and silver affect the flow of energy of the planet. Isn't our planet in it's simplest form a giant dynamo generating massive amounts of heat and electrical energy? Does part of the stability of all of this rely on a series of metals in the earth to act as conduits of this energy to get it too the surface cleanly? What would Nikola Tesla think about all of this? Maybe I need to find some geology books and do some study. |
