Expensive Weekend

diephoneI have to say I have some real issues with the modern cellphones! The more complicated they get, the more delicate they become. Is it me or where those old school styles (remember the bricks) alot more durable.  Like almost everything else we buy now, the quality seems to have gone out of the window in favour of what? I don't know, it is not like things have really gotten cheaper. I seem to go through a phone every 6 months. This is not good. I sometimes don't even understand why they stop working. More often than not it is an electronic issue and the phone will stop sending or receiving, or even staying switched on. It truely is baffling. A frequency incompatibility issue between me and them perhaps?

This time around I promised myself I would be really careful and take extra good care. So why not treat myself to a whizz bang touchscreen with all of the bells and whistles........

You would have thought I would have known the predictable outcome. Another phone destroyed by the simplest, momentary lapse of concentration, but at least this time I can put my finger on the cause. The act of walking up the path with the phone in my pocket and the baby capsule in hand was all it took. The mistake was not putting the protective cover on the front of the phone to protect the screen. One tap of the capsule into my leg must have been all it needed to break the plastic screen. Can't say I even felt it. The end result - a lovely, non functioning, diephone!

The great thing about touchscreens is that it sometimes speeds things up and looks super cool. The bad thing I have discovered, if the integrity of the screen is compromised, the conductivity goes and the touchscreen fails to work. This obviously is a problem on a phone with only 1 button. Lesson learnt - sort of.

Time for a new phone......................and a note to anyone wanting to either call or text me for the meantime - you will have to try your luck on the landline.
