FHM: Fridays Hilarious Music Clip: Karaoke with attitude & a message
This dude is hilarious. He has quite a severe form of Tourettes Syndrome, along with Aspergers just to make it more interesting. However what Guy Francis has decided is that instead of hiding from it, he is embracing it and bringing it to the world's attention the best way he knows how. YOUTUBE! He has now collected quite a decent amount of views (5.3 million), is now featuring in other producers videos, and has a website / facebook supporting the new "career". He is also bringing attention to a much misunderstood condition. The best thing about this guy is the reasons behind why he is doing this. The story of Guy Francis is quite moving. You can visit his website and learn more about the serious side of Tourettes, Autism & Aspergers, as well as understand more about his personal journey. < http://www.touretteskaraoke.com/ > Basically this has been a lifelong condition that went undiagnosed for decades. As he grew up he just accepted that he was a little odd, and struggled through life. Now, with a wife and kids, he has found a way to turn this all to an advantage situation, and do some social good at the same time. He also seems to have quite a well developed sense of humour!
Why are we posting this? What is the higher purpose?A couple of reasons spring to mind. It clearly illustrates the power of social media. 5.3 million people are now slightly more informed about Tourettes and the stigma attached to it. Of those that have watched it, if only 1% think about it a little more, that is still 53,000 people that have been activated into doing something. That is a decent sized city. Imagine that. An entire city that is mobilised into action for a specific cause. We have been working with a Speech Therapist, Johan Langfield, for the last few years working on the development of a massive Speech & Language Therapy website to deliver an enormous volume of information to those of the world afflicted by a plethora of Speech & Language conditions such as Tourette's and Aspergers. Please take the time to visit it. www.icommunicatetherapy.com. The link will open on a new page. Share it around. Often the pathway to treatment is very long, and in some countries very expensive, so Johan has developed a great platform for delivering treatment via the internet using Skype technology. The site also features an enormous library of information to help those across the entire Speech & Language Therapy spectrum, from parents with children not developing as expected, through to those adults recovering from a stroke or brain injury, or those that have been living with, or caring for someone with any number of developed conditions like Tourette's, Aspergers, deafness, Down's syndrome and many others. Hopefully you arwe also now motivated into action. Share the icommunicate website around. If you know someone that would benefit from some extra help pass it on. In the meantime, perhaps you need to see a little more Tourette's Karaoke, and a great interview with Guy about the concept behind Tourettes Karaoke.
This next song has car wreck written all over it! Imagine all of the youtube comments.....
Here is a great interview, which explains the whole concept a little more. There you go. Something from the weird side of youtube with a little more serious message. |
