Fridays Hokey Music - Symphony of Science "An ode to the brain!"
Who ever would have thought that science could be a fun, musical journey.
This youtube channel takes random sciency subjects, finds additional very random things, like this collection of speeches, documentary snippets and presentations about the brain, and turns them into a song using everyone's wondertool - auto tune!
Surprisingly this is a winner for the youtube channel, for science and for geeks world wide! With 22.4 million views on all of their uploads science is a worthwhile artform for them! Imagine if this was how science was partly taught at school!
How cool is that. The story of science is so overlooked, and I think that a fundamental understanding of all that is around us to some degree must surely give us a better footing as individuals, and lead to an advancement of our culture, and the empowerment as individuals.
"Ode to the Brain" is the ninth episode in the Symphony of Science music video series. Through the powerful words of scientists Carl Sagan, Robert Winston, Vilayanur Ramachandran, Jill Bolte Taylor, Bill Nye, and Oliver Sacks, it covers different aspects the brain including its evolution, neuron networks, folding, and more. The material sampled for this video comes from Carl Sagan's Cosmos, Jill Bolte Taylor's TED Talk, Vilayanur Ramachandran's TED Talk, Bill Nye's Brain episode, BBC's "The Human Body", Oliver Sachs' TED Talk, Discovery Channel's "Human Body: Pushing the Limits", and more. Cool. Everything sounds funky with auto-tune, that is why the Gregory Brothers have made a career out of their groovy youtube channel Auto Tune The News.
The Symphony of Science is a musical project of John D Boswell, designed to deliver scientific knowledge and philosophy in musical form. The project owes its existence in large measure to the classic PBS Series Cosmos, by Carl Sagan, Ann Druyan, and Steve Soter, as well as all the other featured figures and visuals. Continuation of the videos relies on generous support from fans and followers. You can check out their website < http://symphonyofscience.com > copy and paste people!
But wait, there is more!
What about the science of quantum physics, surely they can't make that cool. Sure they can!
Their are 12 video's in the series so far, all about science. Love it!
