With two young children in the house we get to hear our fair share of children's music, and to be perfectly honest it kind of sucks day in and day out.

For those of you that know me you may remember the grungy phase intertwined with a bit of a rocky metal phase. Ah the 90's.

Last week at Sophia's 3rd birthday party I was reminiscing about this 2007, now vintage, youtube clip. It proved to be quite hard to explain without the reference.
What better then than this old charm to beat the kid's song blues - a combination of dumb nursery rhymes and rock! Rock on kids!!!!

Ok it may be a parody by comedian Tim Hawkins, but for a while there it was actually available apparently via his website < http://www.timhawkins.net >.
I had a quick look but couldn't find it so maybe it is not available, but he has done some other really funny kids stuff, like a cover of Nirvana's "Smells like teen spirit".
In this case it is actually way better, with way more cred, than that tragic Miley Cyrus version I posted a while back.

So how can "Smells Like Teen Spirit" be parodied?
Quite easily when the song is titled "Smells like Birthday Cake".

This works in so many ways!
