A couple of days ago Google had one of it's legendary "Logo Screens" up in honour of Guitarman Les Paul's birthday.
This one was a cracker. The guitar is playable if you know just how, and within hours of it being up there were examples being shown off of just what you can achieve with the Les Paul Google Guitar.
As with all of these memorial google logos, they are only up for the specific purpose of paying tribute to a spaecial person or event for the duration of the day around the world. Then they are gone.
However this time, due to popular demand and massive worldwide blog success, they have brought back the Les Paul Google Guitar to live on forever.
Did you miss the interactive Les Paul doodle on Thursday June 9th, which would have been Paul's 96th birthday had he lived as long. He died in 2009 aged 94. You can now visit it here < http://www.google.com/logos/2011/lespaul.html > forever (apparently.
The doodle (as shown above - click to enlarge) consists of Google's company logo made up of 10 virtual electric strings, virtual pickups, a recording button, and two out of place, but intrinasic, guitar holes under the strings for the ‘google Os.'
Here are a couple of examples of the class action recorded and posted:
and to finish with some Lady Gaga for good measure.
If you want to get busy with it, you can also pluck the google doodle's strings using specifc keys on your keyboard. Here they are, starting from G (the G an octave below the G that's just below middle-C on a piano-style keyboard).
G = 1/Q/A/Z
A = 2/W/S/X
B = 3/E/D/C
C = 4/R/F/V
D = 5/T/G/B
E = 6/Y/H/N
F# = 7/U/J/M
G = 8/I/K/<
A = 9/O/L/>
B = 10/P/:/?
Want to play the verse portion of "Suspicious Minds"? It's just 1+3+5, then 1+4+6, then finally 2+5+7, then back to 1+4+6, and finally 1+3+5. You can do the strum rhythm how you like.
