Ground Zero - The effects of nuclear bombs
Written by David Eagle

This just slipped into the inbox and had to be shared.

This great piece of code appears to run off google maps with a nice injection of javascript. Ah joys, welcome to the web 2.0!
The map changes the location on every load, but you can easily find your place by typing into the search field.
Select your city, then select your bomb size and hit Nuke It - hey presto, you can instantly see the effects of the thermal blast radius and fallout zone.

This is all very sobering, especially when you look to the bigger end of the scale.

Nuclear Explosions, weapons and the after effects are no laughing matter though. With what is currently occurring in both North Korea and Iran this matter is still a concern.

There is also an alarming situation in Iran involving their nuclear facilities and the Stuxnet Computer Virus, a virus that according to reports needed the funding of a "nation state" in order to be built and deployed. You can read a fascinating article on this at TussockJumper.com
