A few months back I got send a peta link to a video that showed unbelievable cruelty in China within the fur industry. A lot of the fur used in manufacturing of western destined goods is actually dog fur. The factory farming of these dogs is horrendous, but it is in their death that the real cruelty comes. The video of this is available online here. I have put up a link to their page on the Chinese fur industry as a buffer so as the link does not lead straight into the video, as it is one of those videos that leaves a lasting impression, the kind that makes you really wonder about the state of our world, the humans in it and whether or not we deserve to continue as a species if this is how we choose to conduct ourselves. If you buy fur based products, or think that you may in the future, then you need to see this footage. It is our collective responsibility to take ownership of what our purchasing actually supports. The world is in a state of great change, and now more than ever, the bottom line of the spreadsheet seems to wield unimaginable power. Some use this as a justification for unbelievable cruelty. There is no excuse, but the only way to stop it is by refusing to support it. Here is another link to a shorted message. (click here). Peta has been tirelessly campaigning for a long time to get fur off our backs and out of the marketplace. With all of the technology we have to manufacture warm, cruelty clothing, it really is only a choice that we choose to wear the skin of a slaughtered animal. This applies to leather (cow skin) too, but lets not get too deep into all of this philosophy. Click on the read more to see the video posted by Dave Navarro, and some of the famous "I'd Rather go naked" billboards that celebrities have endorsed by featuring on them as an effort to sway public opinion. Here is Dave Navarro (celebrity rock star) - warning contains some graphic footage. And some of the "I'd rather go naked" billboards:

I could go on about this more, but it is really not the place. But what I will say is that we all need to be accountable for the actions others take on our behalf for the products we consume. The world has changed. No longer are the things you use made by someone in your town, or if you are very wealthy someone from the town down the road. Now we live in a world come from everywhere, and along with this hyper competitivity comes the removal of accountability as people scramble for wealth at the expense of everything else. Remember this please.
