amazing-girl-quitsThis just came across the desk, and is either a great feel-good story, or an exceptional piece of marketing. It has gone a little viral today so I thought I would do my bit and post it as well.

So here is the story from thechive.com:

We received the following photos last night from a person who works with this girl. Her name is Jenny (not confirmed) - we're working our contact for Jenny's last name. Yesterday morning, Jenny quit her job with a (flash)bang by emailing these photos to the entire office, about 20 employees we're told. Awesome doesn't begin to describe this office heroine.

I will follow this and see if more of the background story emerges. Whatever the situation it is brilliant. And yet another example of the potential of viral marketing. What clever use of all of the available tools, if this woman is currently out of work, you can be guaranteed it wont be for long with all of the buzz around this story.
Update: indeed the story is a well orchestrated hoax designed to go viral as anexperiement in traffic redirection. For the follow up see here: < http://techcrunch.com/2010/08/11/elyse-porterfield/ >

Hit the read more to see the the pictures at the centre of this web sensation, and the follow up video with the star and makers detailing the hoax.

UPDATE: WE have made contact with Jenny and will be posting a follow-up story tomorrow morning with more information.

This came from thechive.com < http://thechive.com/2010/08/10/girl-quits-her-job-on-dry-erase-board-emails-entire-office-33-photos/ >, copy and paste people. It is a great site.

So the whole things is a hoax, which is not that bad as it really shows just how the social media sites are becoming leaders of mainstream news sources. Within a couple of days this story has gone global, and appeared on numerous mainstream media platforms. This folks is how it is done!
