Volcano proves who is boss - watch it live!

lavaToday it appears that the situation in Iceland is infact worsening with the Eyjafjallajökull Volcanic eruption.

The people in charge of airspace in the UK have issued a fresh statement suggesting that the grounding of flights may have to continue, rather than be lifted as was expected today. Heathrow was expected to start flights again from 7pm Tuesday (their time) but this is now being reviewed as another wave of ash floats it's way across Europe. The airlines are reported to be losing 200 million euro a day, and now alot of people are stranded with little choice to come or go from Europe except via the long way. Haven't we all become so reliant on the modern conveniances!

Bummer. Really does start to put everything in perspect a little with all of these massive earthquakes and now volcanoes. Our collective human efforts to control everything become quite insignificant in the face of Mother Nature at a canter. Imagine her at a run........... I have been reading some very interesting things over the last couple of days that I will hopefully have time to share shortly.

Footnote: just found a series of live webcams set up to record the volcano as it happens. It is pretty cool but you do need to be mindful that Iceland is 12 hours behind New Zealand, 4 hours ahead of New York, and 1 hour behind the UK. You can visit them here < http://eldgos.mila.is/eyjafjallajokull-fra-fimmvorduhalsi/ > but be patient, the cameras take ages to load due to massive traffic on the site as the world watches on.

I have also found this great youtube clip with excellent filmwork.

To think that all of this hot, fluid, molten rock (lava or magma) is what the earth's crust sits on. Kind of puts things into perspective a little. Our rock solid world floats around ontop of a sea of magma nearly 3000km deep. That is a lot of hot just waiting to get out!
